Introduction
The UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) Zimbabwe, wishes to appoint an Economics Adviser. This post will be for a fixed term of 3 years.
1. Enhancing DFID Zimbabwe‘s understanding of macroeconomic and budgetary trends (approx 50% of the time).
2. Enhancing DFID Zimbabwe’s understanding of the business environment in Zimbabwe and constraints to economic growth (approx 15%).
3. Support the regional work on the wealth creation agenda led by DFID South Africa (approx 10%).
4. Supporting the work of the Results Adviser (approx 15% of the time) applying quantitative techniques to assess value for money delivered by DFID programmes.
5. Contributing to the wider work of DFID’s Economist cadre (Approx 10%).
Personal Qualities, Skills and Competencies Required (Person Specification)
- Hold a University degree in economics to MSc level
- At least 3 years experience of working in Zimbabwe or a similar context in areas related to the job description
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, and advanced knowledge of Excel
- Be a strong networker, able to relate to a complex set of stakeholders in the donor community, private sector and Government of Zimbabwe.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Be an effective team-worker
- Good work planning skills and focus on delivery of Work
Remuneration
A competitive salary starting at US$4,500 per month is offered, plus benefits. The successful applicant will need to hold Zimbabwean citizenship or have a valid work permit for Zimbabwe. |
